Tips For Attracting The Right Talent Agent
If you’re looking to start an acting career or break into the entertainment industry as a professional singer, dancer, or another kind of performer, the first step is building your brand, building your career, and then attracting representation that can help get you into those doors that seem elusive for so many. The top talent agencies have years of experience helping aspiring performers find their big break in show business, and they are constantly sending talent scouts out to discover young people with a passion for the performing arts. Reach out to our artist and branding agency locations in Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, or New York, and scroll down for some tips to help you find the right talent agent.
Look At Credentials
Not all talent agencies are created equal — in fact, many are scams. That’s why it’s so important to look at the credentials of several different casting agencies before going with the first talent agent that approaches you. The top talent agencies will have been involved in major projects, such as red carpet events, blockbuster movies, and award-winning TV shows, as well as having promoted successful musicians and performers.
At Industry AXS, our owners have gone on tour with The Temptations, NSYNC, Ricky Martin, Clay Walker, and many others. We’ve also received two Emmy nominations over the years, and we’ve contributed to a number of Grammy and Oscar-nominated projects as well, landing us on the Red Carpet in London for the James Bond film Spectre. The list goes on, but what really sets talent agencies like ours apart from the rest is our credentials and the success we’ve found since incorporating Round Rock Productions, Artista Marketing Solutions, DanceStaff, and Tony Smith Productions into our business.
Get Recommendations
Given that the best talent agencies have an established reputation in the industry, they’ll also be willing to provide testimonials and recommendations from successful actors, dancers, and singers they’ve represented in the past. Networking is key in show business, and getting recommendations about different casting agencies allows you to decide which one will be able to help you the most. Before you decide on a talent agency, reach out to other industry professionals to see what they have to say about them. If they have nothing but glowing reviews, you’ll feel more confident about your decision.
Assess The Actor-Agent Relationship
Another tip to consider when choosing a teens’ and kids’ talent agency is assessing how the acting agent treats the performers. One of the main reasons parents are hesitant to allow their kids to pursue a career in teen or child acting is because they are afraid that they will be objectified or have to sacrifice their childhood for the stage. Though this is a valid concern, the top talent agencies do everything in their power to avoid this while fostering healthy relationships with aspiring actors, singers, and dancers. At Adams Davy, our talent agents know the value of a normal childhood and are respectful of our clients’ lives outside work. We value trust, loyalty, communication, and honesty, and you can expect nothing less when you partner with us.

Reasons To Take Advantage Of Open Casting Calls
Open casting calls are a great opportunity to get discovered and launch your career in the entertainment industry. Unlike other types of auditions that you have to make an appointment for or have a formal connection to get, such as an acting agent or talent agency, open casting calls are for anyone. As the top talent agency in Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, and New York, our talent scouts at Adams Davy encourage aspiring actors to attend as many open casting calls as they can when they’re trying to break into show business. Here are a few reasons why!
Gain Audition Experience
It should come as no surprise that not many actors land their first audition. In fact, most actors go through dozens of acting auditions before landing a role in a Broadway play, a TV show, or a movie. This is a normal part of becoming an actor — in fact, it’s almost a rite of passage into the entertainment industry. That being said, the best thing you can do is take advantage of kids’ and teen casting calls when you’re young so you can get as much experience under your belt as possible.
All too often, people give up on their dream of becoming a performer because they didn’t get the first five parts they auditioned for. In reality, good auditions take lots of time and practice, and you get out of them what you put in. Sometimes, all it takes is years of experience. So, instead of losing hope, use the feedback from each open casting call to improve and give a better performance the next time!
Get Recognized
With every open casting call you attend, your chances of landing a part or being recognized by a local talent agency increase. It takes a lot to impress a casting director, but some people get lucky and nail the casting call, landing them a career in show business. For others, the process takes a little longer, and that’s where we come in. Talent scouts like ours are known to attend nearby casting auditions to discover fresh talent that is otherwise overlooked.
If you give a memorable performance, you’re likely to be approached by a casting agency that will provide actor training and help you get auditions in the future. Then, when it’s your time to shine, we’ll be by your side the entire time. If you’re looking to start an acting career, search for open casting calls nearby, or contact Adams Davy to learn more about our talent agency. We are proud to represent aspiring actors in Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and beyond!
